Microneedling

MEDICAL MICRONEEDLING

Medical Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is an innovative aesthetic procedure. The technique is minimally invasive and generates production of collagen without removing the top layer of skin. Microneedling is a super effective treatment option for addressing a wide variety of skin concerns.

Some of them include:

  • Reinvigorating skin’s collagen production
  • Tone and texture evening out
  • Reduces Hyperpigmentation
  • Lessening of scarring (typically caused by acne)

Medical Microneedling can be a safe and effective treatment for all skin types and colors. Microneedling can treat delicate areas that are tricky to treat with other procedures such as eyes, neck and back of the hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Microneedling Work?

The device lightly pierces the skin creating minute microchannels that stimulate your skin’s natural healing process. Microneedling encourages your body to start producing collagen again. The micro-injuries created also assist with increased absorption of serums and topicals allowing them to move deeper into the skin.

What Makes Microneedling So In-Demand?

This procedure has earned wide recognition among patients because it activates collagen production while keeping the upper layer of your skin intact. Because of this it greatly reduces recovery time, and patients may often be able to go back to their usual activities in the next day or two. Generally, a series of 3 to 6 treatments is recommended for optimal results.

What Are the Microneedling Care (Pre and Post) Instructions?

Pre- treatment, we recommend anti-aging product application for 12 hours, avoid being in the sun, and notify us if you have a history of herpes (cold sores, fever blisters) so suitable anti-viral medication can be prescribed if required. Arrive with a clean washed face if that is the area to be treated.

Post treatment, use any healing balms as recommended. For the first 24 hours, avoid direct sunlight, swimming, and exercise. The next day, it is ok to use medical sunscreen and makeup. Resume your usual anti-aging skin care after day 3.

Microneedling Downtime

If using the pre-treatment product, you may find downtime to be as little as one day. However, if you find that you are not using the product post-treatment, downtime can be a few days and is usually accompanied by redness (mimicking a sunburn) and some spot through bleeding.

How Often Can I Get Microneedling Done?

Typically, providers recommend a four-week period in between treatments

Can I Wear Make-Up After Microneedling?

Usually, your provider will recommend waiting at least 24 to 48 hours and using products written down by provider to be used both immediately following treatment and in the days post treatment.
